Rory Rose

Imperial College London

Project title: Taking Co/Ni superalloys into service
Supervisors: David Dye (ICL), Mark Hardy (Rolls Royce)

Rory graduated from Oxford in Materials Science (MEng). His Masters project with Angus Wilkinson and Jicheng Gong investigated ultrasonic fatigue in stainless steels. The project used in-situ Electron Backscatter Diffraction and HR-DIC to investigate the role of microstructure on strain localisation and applied machine learning methods to optimise fatigue experiment design. He is now investigating Co/Ni superalloys for aerospace engine applications building on previous work done at Imperial.
