Research project: Responsive microstructures for targeted drug delivery

Supervisors: Dr Joanna McGouran (TCD), Dr Larisa Florea (TCD), Dr Nazila Kamaly (ICL)

Julie graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2023 with a BA in Chemistry . During her undergraduate studies, Julie completed a final year research project with the McGouran group in the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute focused on synthesising biologically responsive monomers. Her PhD project will focus on developing tumour responsive microstructures by combining state-of-the-art 3D fabrication and characterisation techniques with stimuli-responsive materials.

Studying my PhD as part of the ACM CDT not only provided me with valuable training courses and workshops on characterisation techniques, but also regular academic seminars, team activities, and discussions to help expand my interests, both inside and outside of research.
