Biography

Research Project: Near-Infrared Organic Semiconductor Materials for Optoelectronic Technologies
Supervisors: Dr. Nicola Gasparini (ICL), Dr. Bob Schroeder (UCL)

Matilde received her MSci in Chemistry at Imperial College London in 2023. Under the supervision of Dr. Nicola Gasparini, she completed her master’s project on tuning perovskite composition for filterless photodetectors, and more specifically she systematically studied how different percentages of lead iodide passivate the perovskite active layer. Her PhD project will now focus on the synthesis of organic semiconducting molecules and the fabrication of near-infrared organic solar cells and other optoelectronic devices.

Studying my PhD as part of the ACM CDT not only provided me with valuable training courses and workshops on characterisation techniques, but also regular academic seminars, team activities, and discussions to help expand my interests, both inside and outside of research.
