Biography

Project Title: Novel Scanning Acquisition Design and All-digital Detection Strategies in STEM.

Supervisors: Dr. Lewys Jones (TCD), Dr. Michele Conroy (ICL)

Matthew graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a B.A. in Nanoscience, Physics and Chemistry of Advanced Materials in 2023. For his final year project, he worked with the Jonathan Coleman group in TCD on the size selection of electrochemically exfoliated graphene. His PhD project with the Ultramicroscopy group in TCD will focus on the reduction of the electron dose used for imaging with Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopes (STEM) by digitisation of the detector signal and blanking of the electron beam.
