Research Project: Electrochemistry in Confined Nanoscale Geometries

Oliver completed his undergraduate studies at Imperial College London, with a MEng in Materials Science and Engineering. His MEng project involved the synthesis of thin film nanoporous copper substrates, which have promising applications as electrocatalysts in the field of CO₂ reduction. His PhD will focus on probing processes at electrochemical interfaces, using both in-situ and operando techniques. This research will help to provide a greater fundamental understanding of the degradation mechanisms at these interfaces, which in turn will help to increase the operational lifetime of electrochemical systems.

The CDT gave me the opportunity to meet people working in different fields and gain experience in a wide range of characterisation techniques that I could apply to my research.
