Biography
Research Project:Unravelling the factors that control the activity and stability of catalysts for alkaline water electrolysis
Supervisors: Reshma Rao (ICL), Mary Ryan (ICL)
Yifeng earned his Master of Science in Chemistry with a specialization in Molecular Physics from Imperial College London in 2023. During his master’s program, he conducted research as a part of the Durrant Group at Imperial, focusing on the investigation of the impact of electrolyte cations and the role of iron in relation to the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity of nickel-based catalysts. In his current pursuit of a Ph.D., Yifeng is dedicated to a comprehensive exploration with spectroscopic and microscopic techniques of the various factors influencing the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance of nickel-based catalysts, as well as the examination of other materials such as iridium oxide and manganese oxides for OER in various perspectives.
Elwin HunterStudying my PhD as part of the ACM CDT not only provided me with valuable training courses and workshops on characterisation techniques, but also regular academic seminars, team activities, and discussions to help expand my interests, both inside and outside of research.
